What is NV PAL’s Bridge Clinic? How can it integrate with my practice?
In the world of child mental health, waiting for appointments can often feel like an eternity, with average wait lists spanning a minimum of 8-12 weeks for an initial visit. Recognizing the pressing issue of long waitlists for child psychiatrists and therapists, the NV PAL program has taken proactive steps to address the challenge.
NV PAL’s Bridge Clinic team utilizes Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), an evidence-based model, to provide a bridge for youth who need immediate support, including those who are uninsured and underinsured.
Faculty-trained members will offer 6-8 sessions of SFBT to stabilize the youth’s condition. At the same time the youth are receiving SFBT, team child psychiatrists can optimize their treatment plan over 2-4 sessions, and then transition the youth back for management by their primary care pediatrician or provider. This innovative approach will ensure that children receive timely and effective mental health care in the least restrictive setting (teletherapy) with the goal of transitioning the youth and families back to community support.
Our Goal
The goal of NV PAL’s Bridge Clinic is to provide brief solution focused intervention to individuals unable to access care, thus causing further high-risk stressors.
