NV PAL was created to bridge the gap between the shortage of child & adolescent psychiatrists and the need for greater youth mental health support.

Our mission is to:

1) expand access to child mental health care statewide, and

2) grow Nevada’s primary care clinicians' knowledge, skills, and competencies in children’s mental health.

"I just want to let you and the rest of the team know how valuable you are! Thanks for your diligence and willingness to help our children in need!"

- Dr. Jabile

What does NV PAL do for families?

How does NV PAL help families?

NV PAL works directly with doctors and/or other primary care providers (PCPs), to ensure that children and adolescents in their care get the expert mental health care they need, regardless of the patient family’s resources or location.

NV PAL also provides links to online educational and informational support resources for families through our website. However, we do NOT work directly with patients or their families to provide mental health care. Instead, we work collaboratively with your primary care provider (pediatrician, family physician, or nurse practitioner) to help determine the best treatment protocol for patients.

Looking for patient forms? If you need to complete an online parent questionnaire or consent form, you can find our forms here.

Emergency? NV PAL is not an emergency line. In case of a psychiatric emergency, call or text 988.

Here’s how NV PAL works:

  1. Your PCP contacts us to request support and/or collaboration about you or a family member in their care.
  2. We consult directly with your PCP via phone or video.
  3. Your PCP administers care and treatment.

NV PAL is an HRSA-funded Pediatric Mental Health Care Access (PMHCA) program, similar to other child psychiatry access programs available around the US. (You can find other state programs on the National Network of Child Psychiatry Program's website.)

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), in partnership with HRSA, created this brief video which explains how NV PAL and similar programs in other states are helping primary care providers like you.
